Why see Pippin?

Welcome to the circus

A young prince sets out on a journey to find the ultimate meaning of life in the vaudevillian spectacular of Pippin, from Godspell and Wicked creator Stephen Schwartz. Told by a roving cast of an anachronistic acting troupe, the musical first wowed audiences in 1972, seducing them with the astonishing musical fable, set to a rousing 1970's rock score, including the hits 'Magic to Do' and 'I Guess I'll Miss the Man.'

What is the story?

A young and dreamy prince named Pippin is unhappy with his lot. Overlooked by his errant father King Charles, and mocked by his family, he wants to learn the meaning of life, and takes on a series of thrilling challenges to prove himself. He becomes involved in a war and switches sides to become a revolutionary, whilst leaving a trail of broken hearts all over the land. But perhaps excitement and freedom isn't the key to living, and maybe its modesty that will fill the void.
